Information reviewed 8 August 2026. Official procedures can change.
1. Obtain the hospital birth notification
The hospital or health facility records the birth and prepares the notification used by the relevant authority. Check the details early and report discrepancies through the official channel.
2. Identify the responsible authority
For Dubai Health facilities, start with Dubai Health. Also review the DHA service card. Federal health routes may use EHS.
3. Prepare the case-specific documents
Official pages commonly refer to parents’ IDs/passports, marriage or family-status evidence and the hospital notification. Foreign-issued supporting documents may need attestation or translation. The exact list depends on the case.
4. Apply through the official channel
Use the authority website/app or facility route stated for the case. Enter names exactly as they should align with future passport and identity records.
5. Review the issued certificate
Check Arabic/English names, dates, place of birth and parent details before using the certificate in later applications. If something is wrong, use a formal correction route rather than editing or annotating the certificate.
6. Plan the next documents
Depending on nationality and residence status, later steps can include the child’s passport, visa/residence file, insurance and Emirates ID. See the newborn document checklist.
